1. Use a cruise to test out different destinations.
I look at cruises as a way to test out a place to see if it would be worth going back to for a full vacation. I’ve been to some islands that we’re great to sit on the beach for a couple hours, check out a museum, or get some scuba diving in, but was ready to leave at the end of the day. Sometimes, you think there will be more to do in a city than there really is. Cruises are a perfect way to avoid ending up bored in one place for a full week.
2. Cruises are great for families.
I went on my first cruise when I was about 7 with my brother and parents, and it was an amazing time for all of us. Most cruise ships have a kids club, which is pretty much an on-board daycare so parents can get a little relaxation and alone time on their trip. Speaking from experience, kids love it too! My brother and I made friends with the other kids and hung out with them for the entire week.
3.The food is amazing
Cruises are not the best idea if you’re trying to lose weight, because the food is great and there's plenty of it. Depending on the cruise line, dining options vary; but typically there’s the option to either eat at a buffet or in a dining room. Most cruises will try to incorporate local cuisine into their dining room menus, like salmon on an Alaskan cruise. And the best part is, you can order multiple apps and entrees!
4. There’s plenty to do
Surprisingly, even when you have a day at sea in between ports, you have plenty to do! Every ship is different, but some examples of what they have are rock climbing walls, water slides, ice skating rinks, and indoor skydiving. If those aren’t really for you, most ships always have casinos, comedy shows, board games, movies, and a gym if you feel like working off all that amazing food.
5. There’s a cruise for everyone
There are so many different cruise lines, itineraries, and durations, that there’s a perfect cruise out there for everyone. Want to do a weekend getaway? Take a 3 night cruise. If you’re looking for a longer trip, there are 2 week cruise options. Cruise lines like Disney and Carnival are great for families with kids, where as Princess and Celebrity cruises are better options for adults. You can take a cruise to the tropical Caribbean, or even cruise along icebergs in the waters of Alaska.
